History
The mission of the Don Berman Beth Jacob Teacher's College is to offer a high caliber of Jewish education at a post-secondary level to students preparing for a leadership positions in the field of Jewish Education. Being a leading organization within the community gives The Don Berman Beth Teacher?s College the responsibility to address the many needs that arise within the community. We take this responsibility very seriously and have created many programs and committees to meet and service these many issues. All this is done in the most professional and dignified manner. Situated in Montreal, the College forms an integral part of the warmest jewish communities in north America. The European flavor & warmth prevailing in our city lends itself to the atmosphere of the college; its staff makes each student feel like a family member. In 1973, having gained wide popularity, the Teacher's College broadened its Judaic and general curricula and began full time classes. In March 1973, Beth Jacob Teacher's College received approval from the Quebec Department of Education to operate on a C.E.G.E.P. (Junior college) level, making it the only fully accredited Jewish C.E.G.E.P. in the Province. In 1985, in order to further expand the programs offered, an affiliation was formed with College Marie Victorin which allowed us to offer any program being offered at the C.E.G.E.P. level province-wide. In 1997, seeking to further broaden our curriculum, we joined the Ma'alot network of Neve Yerushalayim Institutions. This is a group of schools that offer ACE (American Council on Education) accredited courses, leading to a BA degree from Thomas Edison State College of New Jersey.

The Don Berman Beth
Jacob Teacher's College was established under the leadership of its founding
president and Chief Rabbi of Montreal, Rabbi Pinchos Hirschprung,
ZT"L in September of 1968.
Over the years, the
student body continued to increase. Since its inception, our dean, Rabbi Shneur
Aisenstark, a well known Mechanech/educator for over 30 years, has been at the
helm of the Don Berman Beth Jacob Teacher's College, giving it vision and
direction. In the summer of 2002 a new building was purchased. In 2003 we moved
into our new home. We have now completed major renovations, and our
state-of-the-art Seminary building is equipped with a computer lab, several
lecture rooms, fully stocked library, students' lounge, auditorium, modern
kitchen and shul. This represents a major milestone in the history of our
Seminary and we proudly anticipate our future, BE"H .
